Hacktoberfest is back, and Appwrite will be celebrating it for the second time in a row!

Hacktoberfest 19 was an amazing celebration of open-source, and this year will be no different! Last year we sent Appwrite SWAGS to over 80 developers from about 30 different countries in 6 continents, and this year we hope to top these numbers :)

If you wish to participate in this year’s celebration, all you need to do is go over to *any* of Appwrite’s Github repos and look for issues labeled as ‘help wanted’ or ‘hacktoberfest’ and try to help by submitting a pull request. To make sure your pull request has the best chances to get accepted and merged, we recommend looking at our contribution guide to understand Appwrite’s architecture and standards better.

Hacktoberfest is open to everyone in the community. Whether you’re a developer, student learning to code, event host, or any company of any size, you can help drive the growth of open source projects and make positive contributions to an ever-growing community. During the month, coders of all skill levels are encouraged to complete the challenge and get a chance to win Digitalocean, Intel, and the Practical DEV limited edition t-shirt.

You are also welcome to join our official Discord server, where you can get help, guidance, and support. You can also use our dedicated #maintainers channel if you need specific help to solve an issue or submit your PR.

Submit a merged PR to any Appwrite repo and get some cool Appwrite SWAGS

DigitalOcean launched Hacktoberfest in 2014 to encourage contribution to open source projects. The event was a clear success, and in terms of attendance and participation goals reached, it’s also clear that Hacktoberfest has become a powerful force in driving contributions to open source. The lure of a t-shirt and specific, time-limited goals help new contributors get started and encourage existing contributors to rededicate themselves and their efforts.

Besides the chance to win a DigitalOcean & DEV.to limited edition t-shirt, we will also spoil Appwrite’s contributors with some cool Appwrite merchandise, including stickers, magnets, and pins. This year we will also give away exclusive Appwrite + Hacktoberfest 20 T-Shirts to our top contributors during the month.

Please note, although we will try our best to give away as much cool Appwrite stuff as we can, be aware that our offering is limited and depends on shipping availability and may have some delays due to COVID19 restrictions.
